I noticed something sticking out of the dirt near one of my dog Jackson’s many back yard excavations. I carefully tugged and twisted, hoping he had struck gold or at least some unique artifact with a story all its own.
An old matchbox car of my son Jesse’s – a powerful reminder that even as time flies, landscapes shift, and life evolves, the memories of our children’s innocence and joy remain forever etched in our hearts. And sometimes in our yards too.
It is hard to believe the little boy who left this out in the back yard so many years ago turned 30 this year.
Say yes more often. Make more memories. More simplicity and less complexity. Inhale their laughter. Soak up their smiles. Immerse yourself in the essence of their innocence.
Forever cherishing the simple and magical moments, Justy
