I recently came across one of the most brilliant quotes and pieces of advice and wanted to share it with you, along with the context in which it was presented.
I was reading a great and life-changing book, The Buddha and the Badass by Vishen Lakhiani. It is one of those books where you find yourself highlighting more sentences than not. This piece really jumped out at me though.
It was the way Vishen presented this idea though that really struck a chord with me. He tells us that the next time we are stressing out about life- careers, relationships, material things, our own vanity, etc. to remind ourselves of this sentiment.
I think of all the times I have such “me” centered thoughts swirling through my head. Talk about needing to get over myself, good grief! What really matters is that we are consciously putting forth effort to make a difference for others- that we are contributing to the greater good of all consciousness. In summary, this quote is one big and much needed reminder for me that I have bigger fish to fry than all the petty little things.
And with that said, I hope that the next time you are feeling stressed out, you decide to pull this quote from your memory bank, redirect your focus, and maybe even try a little kindness instead!
