Fluttering On By

No indications of society or civilization within sight. The musical sounds of birds and squirrels, the chipmunks hustling and bustling all around me. The little snake seemingly smiles as I flutter on by and say a quick hi, offer a smile, and wish him a good day. The almost whipping winds from the lake inspiring the trees to sway and dance all around me. The fresh autumn air filling my lungs, the rustling of the leaves and creaking branches in the background. The sound of my own laughter and my feet hitting the trail as I make an early morning beeline for the secluded beach on the lake, about a quarter mile down the wooded trail.
Lake Erie, October 2021
In these moments, the world and everything in it seems to cease to exist, and it’s just me fluttering through something much beyond even a magical fairytale, that even I myself couldn’t have dreamed up.
