Riding Lessons

Amadeo. My second horse, pictured above.

Perhaps the story of why someone who wasn’t even a horse person took riding lessons and adopted horses is irrelevant since I’ve been out of the horse scene for a number of years.

Nothing against horses but I’ve always been more of the unicorn type. Or if it’s got to be horses, can it at least be seahorses? And honestly I would have preferred flying lessons on the back of a butterfly over horseback riding lessons.

And happiness? I don’t want to think about settling for happiness when ecstacy and bliss are on the table… Which brings me to this thought-

Recently a well-meaning friend, upon witnessing my energy and excitement over something, told me to “let go” of it.

“What?” I asked. And my friend proceeded to explain why I should curb my enthusiasm.

I left the encounter a bit bewildered. What was so darn wrong with being ecstatic about something. I felt like a bit of an ass for being so excited.

It wasn’t long though before I came to my senses. My senses are non-senses as I seem to live in a different world. I’m not toning down my excitement over things I’m passionate about. Perhaps I’ll be more choosey about who I share it with, but no way am I moving back down the spiral just to make other people comfortable.

In this life, some people will find you “not enough,” and others “too much.” For the people meant to be in your life though, you’ll be just right- or as some say you’ll be exactly their kind of crazy! Worry not about others’ opinions, just keep being you, shining your light, and you’ll always be right where you belong.

And on that note, off I go, back over to my own magical infinite world (where, by the way, I am still over-the-top excited about this thing!).

a world of my own
